“He is a trustworthy boy?” Elizabeth asked, and on receiving an affirmative replied, said, “Well then, I believe his name should be added to the household and he should move into the servants’ quarters as the accommodation in the stable will be required for our coachman, groom and a stable lad.”

“What is the boy’s name?” Darcy asked.

“His name is Michael, Mr Darcy,” Thompson replied.

“Tell Michael I shall have a couple of errands for him this afternoon, but for now mayhap one of the maids would accompany Miss Cooper to the nursery, while Mrs Darcy and I take the boys to our chambers. Ask cook to have a light luncheon prepared; we will eat in the family dining room in an hour.”
